BURNING UP ON EMPIRE

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Congratulations are in order for two Hawaii artists whose songs are featured on two top-rated shows from Fox Broadcasting Company.

Fox recently released promo videos for their drama shows “Empire” and “Star,” which features the songs “Burn for You," co-written by Faith Rivera, and “Before You Do It Again,” co-written by Olivia Cargile.

Rivera and Cargile began to work on these songs during the Creative Lab Hawaii Music Immersive in July 2017 and 2018.

“What an amazing experience to write with brilliant creators at the Creative Lab Music Immersive and now have our music out in the world. Definitely a team win for everyone - mentors, producers, artists, local songwriters and Hawaii," Rivera said.

CLHMI gives both established and up-and-coming songwriters the opportunity to collaborate with top leaders in the entertainment and music industry and create songs for TV and film projects.

“The Immersive program experience was life-changing,” said Cargile, who goes by the stage name LIIV. “Each day presented me with opportunities to expand creatively, foster and develop my music, as well as form bonds that will last a lifetime.”

Rivera and Cargile worked directly with Mamie Coleman, senior vice president and head of promotions at Fox. Coleman credits CLHMI for helping Fox “to produce and license amazing songs in two of our biggest Fox TV show promos this Fall.”

“As a TV Network music executive, it can be challenging to place the perfect song in a campaign, but to have an opportunity to create music with the best talent in Hawaii has been very rewarding on all accounts,” Coleman said.

Since CLHMI’s inception, the program has produced music that garnered 15 placements in film projects, TV series, and both national and international advertising campaigns.

“This national attention will help artists like [Rivera and Cargile] establish their careers as successful professional singer-songwriters and will help fuel the success of future TV song placements,” said Charles Michael Brotman, executive director of CLH Music Immersive.

Rivera co-wrote “Burn for You” with Andre Merrit and Josh Bartholomew. Cargile co-wrote “Before You Do It Again” with Mikey Wax and Brian Fennel.

Both songwriters are from Oahu and are now pursuing their careers full-time.
